What is Local Law 126 NYC?

Local Law 126 in New York City mandates periodic inspections of parking structures to ensure their safety and proper maintenance. It requires owners of parking facilities to hire a licensed and registered Professional Engineer (PE) to inspect the structure every six years and file a report with the Department of Buildings (DOB). 

If an Unsafe condition is identified, the QPSI must immediately notify the owner and the DOB and advise on necessary protective measures. 

If SREM conditions are identified, they must be addressed within a specified timeframe, and a follow-up report may be required.
